The Great 100 Scholarship Program

Since 1989, The Great 100, Inc. has awarded over
$556,000 toward nursing scholarships.

The Great 100, Inc is very proud to include a scholarship program to support registered nurse education as a component of our mission. Along with the monies approved by the Board of the Great 100, the Alumni Association graciously contributes monies for this program.

The scholarships are distributed on a rotational selection from schools throughout North Carolina from the ADN/Diploma, BSN, MSN as well as the PhD and DNP level.

Once The Great 100 Scholarship Committee and Board determine the schools to receive the scholarship funds, each school then selects the recipient for their school. This method of selection supports the belief that the school will know which student is the most deserving of the scholarship. Suggested criteria for the student selections are provided to the schools by the Board of the Great 100.The second reason is that accessibility of information and knowledge about the scholarship program is limited to those who currently know about The Great 100. Therefore, your students may not know of these scholarships. Scholarship amounts vary based on the program of study.

In the year your school would be selected to choose a student recipient from the particular program, we would then ask that your School of Nursing select the student and then provide back to The Great 100 the selected students' information. The scholarship check will be sent directly to the student after receipt of the completed and signed application form showing their intent to complete the nursing program and work in North Carolina. The student should anticipate receiving the check in the late summer.
